Nassaubuurt & Benoordenhout

The Nassaubuurt sits inside the Benoordenhout, The Hague — one of the city's most sought-after green districts. The neighbourhood was developed between 1890 and 1935, when The Hague was growing into an international seat of government. The characteristic townhouses, wide avenues and green squares give the district its timeless allure. The Benoordenhout is known above all for its space, parks (Clingendael, Zorgvliet) and walking and sports routes; for museums and theatres, the city centre is about a ten-minute bike ride away. For families, the International School of The Hague, the Aloysius College and the Maerlant-Lyceum are all within cycling distance. The Jan van Nassaustraat itself is named after Jan van Nassau (1535–1606), the younger brother of William of Orange.
